Design Thoughts – Light and Shadow

2017/7/14 – How can one not appreciate the light without the shadow?  This closeup of a historic brick wall illustrates this perfectly.  Depth of the brick is revealed in the shadow lines adjacent to the mortar.  Tiny pegs left over from an old sign cast long shadows across the brick’s face.

As designers and Architects we need to remember to incorporate both light and shadow into our designs.  Current trends in Architecture tend to rely heavily on the light but ignore the shadow.
