Falk-U (University) - Becoming an Architect
So you want to be an Architect, huh? It’s not an easy road. It’ll take time, dedication, and loans/money for college. The rewards are miniscule. But it can be a very happy life.
Becoming an architect typically involves the following steps:
Education: You will need to earn a degree in architecture from an accredited program. This usually means completing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, which can take anywhere from 5-7 years.
Internship: After completing your education, you will need to gain practical experience working as an intern under the supervision of a licensed architect. This is typically done through an internship program that lasts 3-5 years.
Licensing: In order to become a licensed architect, you will need to pass the Architect Registration Examination (ARE), which is a comprehensive exam that tests your knowledge and skills in various areas of architecture.
Continuing Education: Once you are licensed, you will need to continue your education by taking courses and attending workshops to keep your skills and knowledge up-to-date.
Specialization: Some architects choose to specialize in certain areas of architecture, such as residential or commercial design, sustainable design, or historic preservation.
Professional Development: It's important to continue to develop your skills and expertise throughout your career by participating in professional organizations, attending conferences, and staying current with industry trends and technology.
Overall, becoming an architect requires a significant investment of time and effort, but can be a rewarding and fulfilling career path for those with a passion for design, creativity, and problem-solving.
