Clever Library

As part of our educational tour to Alaska we toured the Anchorage, ZJ Loussac Public Library. Several great features caught our eye. Hanging from the ceiling of the entry lobby is an enormous metal sculpture with organic detailing suspending a large orb. Anchorage has a great assortment of public art throughout the City. Below the sculpture is a quote by JK Rowling – “When in doubt, go to the library.” So true.
Another clever feature of the library was to expose the automated material handling machine. The conveyor of the machine punches through the walls of the library to give patrons a glimpse of one of the most essential (and expensive) pieces of equipment of a modern library.
