Reuse/Reduce/Adapt

2017/10/10 – We’re working with Washburn University (in Topeka, Kansas) to upgrade the Sculpture Garden between White Concert Hall and the Mulvane Art Center.  It’s already an amazing space with some beautiful scuptures, but it needs a little love after many years of use.  The concept we proposed includes re-using the recylced rocks in the image below (formerly part of the perimeter wall around campus), and bringing in an enormous rock sculptural element that also serves as seating to create a zen garden-like quality to the space.  Other updates include lighting, plants, seating, bench/low walls and new pavement.  We’re excited about the huge impact we will be able to make to the space with relatively low cost adjustments.  We see this space being used as an outdoor spill out space for evening concerts as well as a quiet meditative study space for students during the day.  Renderings will created in the next few weeks and uploaded to this blog.
