Photovoltaic canopy at the Omaha Zoo

Solar (Photovoltaic) canopies at the Omaha Zoo provide shade and electricity.  Surprisingly these clear back sheet canopies are less expensive than a glass canopy and you get the added benefit of energy from the sun.  This technology is certainly going to improve even more in the coming years.  Tesla is experimenting with roofing systems with the solar panels built into the roofing tile.  Product engineers have even experimented with the concept of solar paint.  In the meantime this is a pretty cool product for anyone wanting to show off their green tech savvy.  Kudos to the zoo staff and designers involved for choosing such a great product.
