Downtown Park

2017/9/20 – Topeka is lucky to have I70 run through it – it brings people!  However it also serves as a barrier, cutting through the middle of our downtown core.  What if we made the underside of the I70 overpass a place for people?  Instead of a divide it becomes a place to come together?  We feel like we could very inexpensively provide some low maintenance amenities under the bridge such as basketball courts, dog parks, tennis courts, skateboard parks, a covered walking/jogging path, social areas, picnic zones and natural playgrounds.  We hope to team with local artists to paint the columns to create a creative and colorful colannade of art.
