Design Thoughts:  Trippy subway lights

2017/6/24 – We love public transportation systems.  Being from Kansas we rarely get the opportunity to travel in this fashion.  When we travel this way we try to take it all in.

The DC Woodley Park Metro station had a particularly long escalator with stainless steel sides.  Lights had been mounted to the interior of the elevator that made the stainless look like pulsing electrical currents as the escalator moved.

The overall effect was that you were TAKING AN ESCALATOR TO ANOTHER DIMENSION.  We’d like to think this wasn’t all an accident, but rather some very ingenious lighting designer at work.
